Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Portland, Maine

With a snow storm brewing just to the south and moving quickly up the coast, I connected with Todd and Eddie for a quick SUP photo session in Portland Harbor this afternoon.  The tide was high and the winds were light.  Considering how frigid it has been the past week, the temps in the 20's felt mild by comparison.  We were out shooting some winter SUP photo stock and were able to hit up a number of locations around the Portland water front before peoples toes got cold.  I think shot with the Maine Responder in the background made our time well worth while.  Stay tune for more.  Todd's Zodiac has just been tuned up, so the next time we will have full water access.

Downeast Bicycle Specialists

This is the second year I have worked with Downeast Bicycle Specialists to provide them with cycling photography for their marketing use. Last year they used two of my images for their 2012 catalog and this year are running one of my images as their web site banner and also for their holiday card.  They are still deciding on final images for their 2013 catalog, they have a few images of mine under consideration.  The cycling community in Maine is a tight knit one and it is great to work with the crew at DE Bikes.

Vintage Ice Axes

For a while now I have been wanting to share photographs of some of my older outdoor equipment, this gear has been aquired over the years.  Since we moved into our new house last Spring, things in the gear department have been a little out of reach.  Slowly I have been getting the gear area organized and soon enough I will be able to share some of the fun outdoors toys in my collection.  For now I wanted to share a photo of my friend Dave Getchell's vintage ice axe collection as a way to kick off the series to come.  This photo was shot in Camden, ME this past summer but I thought it would be appropriate to share now given that winter is upon us and the ice and snow is in... for the moment at least.  Some of Dave's collection include a Mid 70's Royal Robbins Alpelit, an original Lowe Hummingbird(s) and a Choinard North Wall fiberglass shaft Ice Axe.  Thanks to Dave for sharing his gear with me and also for teaching me a little about climbing in the Camden Hills and NH.

Prints and photography for the Holidays

If are are looking for a present that is different for the holidays, consider one of my beautiful scenic photographic prints or even hiring me to capture your family portrait while everyone is home for the holidays.  I have a great selection of photographs at this link, click here.  Instead of a traditional photographic print that needs framing, I would highly recommend the glossy metal prints.  These prints have a contemporary look and appear to float off the wall and come ready to hang.  A gift of one of these prints would truly be something to enjoy for many years to come.  If a portrait session is something you are interested in, please contact me directly for details and available times.  My family and I celebrate Chanukkah and that leaves me available to provide photo sessions on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.  The photo below was taken in Kennubunkport, Maine.  Enjoy the holiday season!
