Hiking the Wild River Wilderness, WMNF, NH

Often when I need to recharge my internal well being I head off to the woods to free myself from the day to day and a very connected world.  With no cell phone service at all, I was a happy camper at the Wild River Campground in the White Mountain National Forest.  The camp ground is 5.5 miles at the end of a dirt road off of Rt 113 that straddles the Maine and NH border in the White Mountains.  From here I spent a very pleasant night in a lean too and then woke Sunday morning to indulge in a care free day of hiking some challenging steep terrain on my way to Mt Meader and the trails near and along the Wild River.  The weather was perfect, there was barely a soul in the woods and the natural sights were just what I needed to be inspired and immersed in.  These photos are a small collection and highlights of my day.  While the photo of my Boreal Boots are not a scenic wonder, they are the best hiking boots I have ever owned.  With over 10 miles of rugged hiking yesterday, these boots continue to provide sure footed grip and many blister free miles.
